Charles and Helen Damron's
60th Wedding Anniversary

"Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.

Love does not come to an end."
I Corinthians 13: 4-8 Jerusalem Bible

The vows of marriage are a husband and wife's promise one to another that they will love and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. "Till death do us part, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health" are promises meant to last a lifetime. Charles and Helen took these vows 60 years ago. As you'll see in these pages, those 60 years have been richer and poorer. Sickness and health have also been part of their journey. Their story as told within these pages is remarkable and worthy of celebration.

On June 3, 1947, Charles Roy Damron married Helen Virginia Wilson at D. H. Matherly's home, minister of the First Christian Church in Cattletsburg, KY, with her mother Wilma Rowe, and Aunt and Uncle Charlie and Ruby Brumfield by their side. Charles was so nervous that his pants leg was shaking and he forgot his sailor hat and had to go back in the parsonage to get it.

This website is our gift to you, the family and friends of Charles and Helen. It is filled with love, memories, and plans for the celebration of this 60th wedding anniversary, June 30, 2007. It is about Charles and Helen, who they are, and the things they consider most important in their 60 years of married life. We hope this helps you understand the richness of our heritage and the long line of love from which we come.
